Aqua Facial, HydraFacial or HydroBoost: What's the Difference?
Aqua Facial, HydraFacial or HydroBoost – what's the difference and which treatment is right for dry skin, enlarged pores and glow? A comparison from Frankfurt.

Dark spots tend to appear exactly when you want to feel most confident about your skin – on the cheeks, forehead, or upper lip. When it comes to dark spots in Frankfurt, Sahel Beauty offers three very different treatments: Brightening Care, Bright Face, and the Pigmentation Plasma Pen. Which one suits your skin depends on whether you're dealing with widespread discolouration or individual defined spots – and how much downtime you can accommodate.
In a nutshell: Widespread dull complexion with no downtime: Brightening Care (€149). Pigmentation plus pores and texture, brief redness: Bright Face with microneedling (€169). Individual clearly defined spots, 7–10 days of crusting: Plasma Pen (from €19). SPF 50 daily after every treatment is non-negotiable.
Dark spots are areas of skin with deeper pigmentation, caused by increased melanin production. They are usually harmless but cosmetically bothersome – and a classic sign that the skin has "been through something."
The most common triggers:
Important: for symmetrical, persistent melasma we recommend a dermatological assessment before any treatment. Pigmentation treatments can visibly even out skin tone, but they are not a substitute for medical therapy.
The most important question before any treatment is: is this about the overall complexion or specific spots? That answer determines which method makes sense for you.
A widespread dull or uneven complexion – where the cheeks, forehead, and chin look tired, slightly yellowish, or blotchy – responds well to area-wide treatments like Brightening Care or Bright Face. Here we work with actives, LED, and microneedling across the full face.
Individual, clearly defined spots – such as typical age spots on the cheekbones or isolated brown marks – we treat precisely with the Plasma Pen. This is more intensive, but targeted only where it's needed.
In practice, many clients combine both: first addressing the overall complexion, then tackling any remaining individual spots. We work out what's right for you during the skin analysis.
Brightening Care is our gentlest option against dark spots and a dull complexion. 60 minutes, regularly €159, currently €149. No downtime, no crusting – you can go straight back to your day afterwards.
The treatment combines three elements:
Brightening Care is the right choice when your main concern is a dull, uneven complexion and you don't yet have pronounced individual spots. It also works well as a starting point before a more intensive treatment – for example as "preparation" for Bright Face or the Plasma Pen.
Recommended: 3–4 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart, then a maintenance session every 6–8 weeks.
Bright Face is the next level up: 60 minutes, €169, with microneedling and the Phi Serum as an active ingredient boost. The treatment works deeper and addresses not just pigmentation but also texture, pores, and firmness.
Microneedling creates tiny microchannels in the skin with ultra-fine needles. Two things happen simultaneously:
Bright Face is a great match when you have a dull complexion combined with texture concerns: enlarged pores, mild acne scars, fine lines, or an overall tired-looking skin. Read more about the method here: Microneedling explained.
Expect mild redness for 12–24 hours; by the following day you're typically back to normal. Recommended series: 3–4 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.
The Pigmentation Plasma Pen is our most intensive option – and simultaneously our most precise. From €19 per spot, depending on size and number. Instead of working across the whole face, it targets individual, clearly defined spots.
The Plasma Pen generates a tiny arc of plasma that superficially vaporises the pigmented skin area. A small crust forms over the spot and falls off naturally after 7–10 days, revealing new, lighter skin beneath.
Important limitations we discuss clearly upfront:
One session per spot is often enough; follow-up treatment of individual areas may be useful after 6–8 weeks. More details on the method can be found on the service page Pigmentation Plasma Pen.

The single most important factor for a lasting result is consistent sun protection. Without SPF 50, dark spots will reliably return – and can even intensify after treatment. This is not a marketing tagline; it's skin biology.
Expert Voice: According to the AAD (How to fade dark spots), daily sun protection is the most effective measure for preventing dark spots and preserving treatment results. Without SPF 50, dark spots return reliably after every treatment.
Our rules after every pigmentation treatment:
We make no guarantees of complete removal. Pigmentation treatments visibly reduce dark spots and can even out the complexion, but they do not cure a skin condition. For melasma – hormonally driven, often symmetrical discolouration – we recommend a dermatological assessment before any treatment. Some treatments can worsen melasma in individual cases, which is why we take a particularly careful approach and adapt actives and intensity accordingly.
A quick decision guide:
During the skin analysis we look at the depth, distribution, and cause of your pigmentation and tailor the plan to your skin type. What worked for someone else is not automatically right for you.

For widespread discolouration, gentle treatments like Brightening Care or Bright Face with microneedling are effective. Individual, clearly defined spots we treat precisely with the Plasma Pen. Consistent SPF 50 is always essential.
Brightening Care uses vitamin C and LED with no downtime – ideal for a dull complexion. Bright Face uses microneedling with Phi Serum and works deeper: great for pores, texture, and pigmentation plus a glow effect, with brief redness afterwards.
Yes, the Plasma Pen works precisely and more intensively on individual, clearly defined spots. Small crusts form that fall off after 7–10 days. For melasma or darker skin types it is not always suitable.
For Brightening Care and Bright Face we typically plan 3–4 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. The Plasma Pen often requires just one session per spot, sometimes two. The skin analysis will show what makes sense.
UV radiation is the main trigger for dark spots. Without SPF 50, discolouration returns quickly and can even intensify. Avoid sun and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks after treatment.
